Thambi (2006) - Tamil Movie Review

Ranking: 3.5/5

Cast: Madhavan, Pooja, Vadivelu
Director: Seeman
Music: Vidyasagar

This like many other movies released over the last few months follow the correct-your-society footprint...Which I must say is redundant now with so many movies...Indian, Ramana, Anniyan, etc., So let me go directly to the review...

Thambi (Maddy) stops crime from happening and brings about a change in the person committing the crime by making the criminal face reality. This does not sit well with the local don who already has a problem with Thambi for having sent his brother to the jail.

Thambi surely falls in love with the heroine a dancer and a college student and a few duets crop up which are all forward-worthy. The villain hates Thambi because Thambi was the reason his younger brother is behind the bars...and the villain has vowed to murder Thambi before his brother is released.

The villain chases Thambi but Thambi gives power-dialogue and leaves...The fighting scenes, thank god are not elaborate and boring...Thambi with his thoppai practices some form of martial art that is very powerful...

Thambi as usual has a past where his family was savagely killed by the villain and in spite of this Thambi helps the villain save his mother and daughter in a strike situation created by the villain himself...But the brother of the villain in rage hacks Thambi first thing after his release...

Does Thambi survive? What happens to the villains? What happens to the heroine? Hmm...I totally lost track of that...

Maddy should learn from Ajith and loose some weight...Really dude...You have a FAT THOPPAIS...But he still looks cute...His eyes pop out and his voice gets deep everytime he gets angry which is most of the movie...

The heroine...Cannot dance for nuts...But why is a dancer? Mystery...She cannot even act and leave alone looking cute...

I like the approach used to stop crimes from happening...I liked the logic Madhavan states...I think may be it could work...But will it be implemented??!!! Anyways as much as it is a 'message movie,' it does try to work on a slightly different path...On the whole it is not a totally bad movie...It is okay!

Dear Blogger,
I personally liked watching this movie. Director has really done a good job. In more than one place, he has delivered the unexpected. Maddy also did his job very well. I thought this was much better than the boring "Yuva".
